LEE, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 8, 2007— Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX) today announced support for Microsoft's new Windows Vista operating system and compatibility with Wave's latest version of its EMBASSY(R) Trust Suite security software. Wave's software is Windows Vista ready and builds upon the new operating system's data protection feature set, providing EMBASSY full-featured solutions for data protection, strong authentication and interoperable Trusted Platform Module (TPM) system management. A TPM is an industry standard silicon chip that can be used to provide an enhanced level of PC security and user authentication by providing secure storage for keys, passwords and digital certificates.

Today, the majority of new business-class PCs ship equipped with a TPM on the system board as standard equipment. With Windows Vista, Microsoft introduced support for the TPM while also providing an important data protection feature - Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption - that can leverage this cryptographic technology. Windows Vista support for the TPM helps establish the building blocks for a more secure operating system environment; for example, Microsoft security features in Windows Vista optionally employ the TPM for a platform integrity check prior to unlocking a Windows BitLocker protected partition.

Wave Systems' EMBASSY Trust Suite software is compatible with Windows Vista and has been included in many of the latest TPM-enabled PCs built by industry manufacturers. As with previous operating systems supported by Wave's software, the Windows Vista supported software improves protection against data and personal information theft, enhances security, network access, secure email and more. Popular features such as Document Manager (for file and folder encryption) have been re-architected for seamless integration with Windows Vista. Wave's EMBASSY Remote Administration Server (ERAS), which enables remote management and monitoring of TPMs throughout the enterprise, is also compatible with Windows Vista.

"Windows Vista will create a platform for the next generation of user experiences, and we are thrilled to see the industry come together like never before around these products," said Russ Humphries, Microsoft's security product manager for Windows Client. "By working with partners such as Wave Systems, we are able to provide users with a choice of technologies to use when making deployment decisions."

"STMicroelectronics is one of the most advanced providers of TCG-enabled turnkey solutions for OEMs and PC manufacturers and our Trusted Platform Modules have enhanced the security of operating systems, such as Windows 2000/XP, Windows Server 2003 and Linux, for several years now," said Andreas Raschmeier, sales & marketing director of ST Microelectronics Smart Cards Division. "Our cooperation with Wave Systems is very valuable, and we will continue supporting TPM adoption over newly released PC platforms running Windows Vista. This will allow our existing customers to take full advantage of the embedded security features of Windows Vista, and new customers will be able to quickly deploy added-value TCG-enabled applications, thanks to the highly featured PC client and turnkey server solutions from Wave Systems."

"Wave's EMBASSY Trust Suite is an essential component in the dramatically growing number of PCs with an embedded TPM module," said Erez Naory, senior director of products at Winbond Israel, a wholly owned subsidiary of Winbond Electronics Corp. which produces TPM chips and is one of the largest suppliers of semiconductor solutions worldwide. "Together with a Winbond TPM, the software allows access to a wide range of applications, such as Document Manager, Private Information Manager and Key Transfer Manager. These applications are on top of the TPM services in native Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Vista(TM), which is limited to one application on two SKUs."

"Because corporations are increasingly exposed to data theft and unauthorized access, standards-based TPM security has become a cornerstone solution for the IT community. As a result, Broadcom continues to integrate TPM security into NetXtreme(R) Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) controller chips that enable PC OEMs to offer this high level of security as a standard feature on all enterprise client personal computers," said Vinod Lakhani, director of marketing for Broadcom's High-Speed Controller line of business. "With Wave Systems' latest version of EMBASSY Trust Suite security software supporting a native OS like Vista, IT professionals can seamlessly implement Broadcom(R) TPM functionality with Wave applications to provide tremendous data protection, authentication and interoperable system management."

Wave's software is compatible with TPM PCs running Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000 and now Windows Vista, resulting in a user experience across these platforms.

Trusted Computing Solutions for the Enterprise

Wave's EMBASSY Trust Suite is a collection of practical, easy-to-use applications utilizing TPM security for enhanced PC security. EMBASSY Trust Suite software provides a number of Trusted Computing features, from advanced authentication to password management, and includes Document Manager which is designed for multiple secure virtual drives and to extend data protection on Windows Vista beyond the hard drive. Wave's authentication features add biometric fingerprint capabilities for logging in to Windows, accessing secure applications and data, or for unlocking the computer.

In addition to the EMBASSY Trust Suite, Wave offers four additional enterprise solutions which deliver improved Trusted Computing features for government and enterprise markets:

-- Wave's EMBASSY(R) Key Management Server provides centralized and secure key management and disaster recovery capabilities for PCs equipped with TPM security chips.

-- Wave's EMBASSY(R) Authentication Server and EMBASSY(R) Network Access Control are designed to extend strong authentication to the network domain using flexible policies for passwords, biometrics, smart cards, and TPMs.

-- Wave's EMBASSY(R) Endpoint Enforcer is an open, standards-based network access control solution that captures, reports and validates platform integrity metrics on PCs equipped with TPM security chips. It complements any network access control solution and enables third-party applications and services to make informed network access decisions.

-- Wave's EMBASSY(R) Remote Administration Server is the industry's first and only solution for remote administration and management of PCs containing any brand TPM across differing Windows operating systems.
